Construction of a 37-storey apartment tower on the former La Boheme bar site in the CBD has commenced.
The $200 million project, known as Victoria Tower Adelaide, will feature 285 apartments and eight levels of commercial office space.
Six penthouses will occupy the tower’s top two levels, including two which will offer more than 600sq m of living space.
At 122 metres, the building will become the city’s fourth tallest building, behind the Crowne Plaza and Realm Adelaide towers in the east end, and the recently renamed RAA Place building on King William St.
Developer Auta Group’s James Guo said about 60 per cent of the apartments had already been sold in the building, while local businesses had been secured to occupy most of the commercial office space.
“This development offers an inner-city lifestyle that would be exceptionally difficult to replicate anywhere else in the world,” he said.
“Victoria Tower Adelaide adds great value to our reputation as one the world’s great small, and exceptionally liveable, cities.”
The development will also include a gym, meeting rooms and a multi-function communal area with outdoor barbecue area. A cafe and florist will operate from the ground floor.
Local building company Synergy Construct is overseeing construction, which is expected to be completed in June 2025.
Synergy Construct operations director Craig Weaver said construction of the “landmark tower” would generate employment for hundreds of construction workers.
“Victoria Tower will be the largest in our build portfolio to date, and we look forward to collaborating with Auta Group and their consultant team to deliver a high-quality building to be enjoyed by tenants, visitors and residents for many years to come.”
Victoria Tower Adelaide, on the corner of Grote St and Penaluna Place, is being built directly opposite the $400 million Market Square development, which officially commenced last month.
That project, on the Adelaide Central Market Arcade site, will feature a 39-storey tower with apartments, offices and a hotel.
Auta Group has completed housing projects across the city and suburbs, including traditional housing, townhouses and apartment projects.
