Adelaide Crows star Rory Sloane has a bubbly new side hustle.
Sloane, who recently stepped down as Crows captain, has signed on as an owner-ambassador for Hard FIZZ, an alcoholic seltzer.
He joins a star-studded line up of ambassadors including Grammy-nominated DJ FISHER, professional surfers Laura Enever and Nikki Van Dijk, and celebrity chef Hayden Quinn.
The 32-year-old said his decision to invest in the company, along with his wife Belinda, wasn’t just financial.
“We live and breathe [footy], especially during the season, so it’s great to have a project to put my mind to when I’m not at training or playing,” Sloane said.
Hard FIZZ has a “better for you” philosophy, containing only one standard drink per can.
“I’m well and truly in my 30s now and a lot more health conscious these days, so the ‘better for you’ movement with low (alcohol) beverages very much appeals to me,” Sloane said.
“I love the drink itself, and with three kids, I especially love waking up the next day and not feeling dusty at all.
“I don’t think you need to be a professional athlete to appreciate that.”
Hard FIZZ launched during the Covid pandemic in 2020 and has since sold 4.5 million cans and generated $19m in retail sales.
Currently making a push towards the South Australian market with the addition of Sloane as an owner-ambassador, the brand is available in 250 outlets.
