George and Takhat have become known for their mouth-watering garlic sauce infused menu at Old Reynella, but the secret to their skyrocketing popularity may just lie in catching their daily antics on camera.
Using a mix of comedy, relatable workplace drama, and mouth-watering food content, the duo has become a local sensation, bringing in customers from across Adelaide and beyond to their Main South Rd eatery The Yiros King.
The shop’s Yirosbros TikTok page is a whirlwind of humour, local pride, and irresistible eats that captures the essence of SA’s laid-back yet vibrant culture.
From cheeky behind-the-counter skits to drool-worthy shots of their signature AB packs, their page now has a staggering 914,000 likes – with one video attracting 1.4 million views.
But the true secret sauce? Their authenticity.
One standout video that’s become a fan favourite features a lively kitchen buzzing with energy, the unmistakeable aroma of sizzling yiros meat and garlic sauce almost wafting through the screen. A grinning team member brandishes a nearly empty bottle of garlic sauce like a lifeline, while the caption boldly declares: “Garlic sauce – Adelaide’s lifeblood.”
The scene cuts to slow-motion drizzles of the creamy sauce cascading over a perfectly stacked AB pack (for the uninitiated: a glorious pile of hot chips, seasoned meat, and toppings), interspersed with co-workers dramatically panicking over the sauce shortage.
Then, like a miracle, a fresh bottle appears, hoisted triumphantly as the team cheers, exclaiming, “The garlic gods have blessed us!” The video ends with a close-up of the AB pack, sauce glistening in the light, paired with the declaration: “Yirosbros: Keeping Adelaide saucy!”
This blend of humour and flavour is quintessential Yirosbros and their fans can’t get enough.
“Business was already good,” says Takhat, who’s been part of The Yiros King family for nearly a decade, “but TikTok has definitely brought in people from further away. We’ve had customers travel just to try the food and meet us. It’s been amazing”.
What makes their content so engaging? According to Takhat, the magic is in the spontaneity. “We stopped trying too hard,” he says with a laugh.
“The best videos are often the first take. It’s just us being ourselves, having fun.”
George added: “We just noticed one day that it (TikTok) took off.”
Their social media fame has even carried over into real life.
“We were out at a festival, and people came up to us and said, ‘You guys are the Yirosbros from TikTok!’,” George said.
This new-found celebrity status hasn’t gone to their heads, though. Instead, they’re focusing on giving back.
“Everyone knows it in the area, and we just try to provide the same amount of food for a very decent price. Even though everything is going up, we’ve tried to keep our prices the same to make it affordable for everyone still … even if it means we might be making a little bit less,” Takhat said.
As their TikTok followers continue to grow, the duo are gearing up to expand their social media presence to Instagram.
“It’s been incredible to see the response,” Takhat says. “We’re just a small local business, but it feels like we’re part of something much bigger now.”
