A range of Devondale butter products have been pulled from the shelves at major supermarkets due to fears of microbial contamination.

Saputo Dairy Australia Pty Ltd is conducting a recall of the products, which are sold nationally at various outlets including Woolworths, Coles and ALDI.

The Food Standards Australia and New Zealand website warns that the products are a food safety hazard and may cause illness if consumed.

“Consumers should not eat these products. Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice,” their website says.

Anyone who has recently bought one of the products is advised to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
