THE Victorian property mogul who bought the Holden site has partnered with one of South Australia’s largest builders in a real estate project that was brokered by a reality TV show winner.

Ross Pelligra, who The Advertiser yesterday revealed is set to splash $250 million reinvigorating the Elizabeth Holden site, has appointed Fairmont Homes to build 68 homes at Largs North in a partnership with SA entrepreneur Mark Sellar. Mr Sellar, who won $1 million on obscure Channel Seven reality TV show The Big Adventure and operates a manufacturing company from Port Adelaide, bought the former ECH nursing home site late last year. Mr Sellar said Mr Pelligra’s company CitiNova will spend about $20 million to develop the 2.5ha site with ground work expected to start this week.

He said Mr Pelligra’s foray into Adelaide will certainly make “ears prick up” among other interstate property developers. “If you have got a good idea he will back it, he’s very supportive of us young guys,” Mr Sellar said.

Mr Sellar said he invested his TV show winnings int industrial property on the recommendation of Mr Pelligra after they met in Melbourne.

He said they have become good friends and business partners.

Mr Sellar joined Mr Pelligra and his grandfather Rosario Pelligra for a tour of the Holden factory in October.

He said the family likes to buy “obscure sites” that present a challenge and require a lot of money.

“They have sites in Melbourne that noe one would consider buying for whatever reason, but they are willing to spend the moeny and turn them around,” he said.

“I will keep pushing him to invest in SA. He says his intention is to definitely buy more - they don’t muck around and buy up pretty big.”
