MasterChef judge Jock Zonfrillo’s spectacular ‘soul restoring retreat’ in the Adelaide Hills, jointly owned with wife Lauren Fried, remains on the market months after it was first listed for sale.
The 4.2 hectare four-bedroom-property at Summertown, named Caledonia presumably referencing Zonfrillo’s Scottish heritage, was listed for sale in January this year.
The property, bought for $1.2 million in April 2016, is being sold by Williams Real Estate and boasts of a “dream kitchen” and luxurious lifestyle while being the ultimate ‘lock up & leave residence’. The home is open for private inspections only for potential buyers to “appreciate the sense of peace & privacy on the edge of civilisation”.
The ongoing sale of Zonfrillo’s home in SA and the continued closure of his Orana restaurant have triggered speculation about the MasterChef judge’s decision to call the state home.
The chef, who has a well-publicised passion for indigenous ingredients has previously insisted SA’s central location helps with quicker, fresher access to bush food. However, his growing popularity as a judge on Ten Network’s MasterChef show has led to talk of a more permanent base in NSW.
Zonfrillo has recently also been in the spotlight following revelations about his failed Adelaide eatery, Mallozzi, potentially trading while insolvent and questions surrounding a series of internal payments to businesses owned by him and Fried from the funding pool of their charity, the Orana Foundation.
