CommSec: Market Close 2 Oct 18: Market falls 0.7% with almost all sectors lower

BIDS for coworking and incubator facilitators keen to set up at start-up hub Lot 14 have closed with Industry and Skills Minister David Pisoni saying he was pleased with the quality of applications received.

Lot 14, which is based at the former Royal Adelaide Hospital site, will eventually house a mix of start-ups, and growing and established businesses.

As part of that process, an expression of interest was put out, asking for coworking space and incubator organisations to put their hand up. That EOI closed on Monday.

“We’ve heard from business leaders with a real passion for facilitating collaboration in South Australia’s business community, and it’s these organisations that will drive the hub’s success,” Mr Pisoni said.

“The response to the process has confirmed there is real market interest in a curated space where start-ups are given the support they need to thrive.

“The hub at Lot Fourteen will fit this bill, featuring infrastructure to foster collaboration – including meeting and conference rooms, event facilities and learning spaces.’’

The number of registrations of interest lodged with the government was not disclosed.

There are a number of businesses already based at Lot 14 including satellite communications company Myriota, Chamonix IT Solutions and SA Pathology.

The University of Adelaide’s Australian Institute of Machine Learning is set to relocate to the site next year.
