AN AEROSPACE component manufacturer, airconditioning business and the couple behind an online fitness empire are among those named as the state’s top exporters.
Sixteen companies were recognised at the Business SA 2018 Export Awards on Thursday night, including Levett Engineering, which took out the major gong – Exporter of the Year.
Business SA chief executive Nigel McBride said Levett Engineering should be congratulated for its commitment to the production of precision components in an important industry.
“Defence, aviation, aerospace, aeronautical and electrical engineering are critical industries in South Australia, along with biotech and advanced manufacturing,” Mr McBride said.
“Levett Engineering has developed a reputation for skilled engineering and producing quality
components and is increasingly being relied on by some of the world’s largest aviation
manufacturers.
“It is deservedly being recognised for its international success.”
Levett Engineering’s aerospace components are used in Boeing and Gulfstream planes and the supersonic Joint Strike Fighter.
The Elizabeth South-based company supplies the industry’s major aircraft companies, including Lockheed Martin, Pratt & Whitney and BAE Systems.
Lonsdale-based Seeley International took out the Excellence in Exporting Award, which recognises local companies making an international impact.
Tobi Pearce and Kayla Itsines’ health and fitness global empire SWEAT was also lauded, receiving the award for e-commerce.
Levett Engineering and 12 other winners of major categories will now compete against companies from across Australia in the national awards on November 27.
Business SA has been running its awards for 56 years.
They were presented at a ceremony at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
