A VISION to provide better exercise nutrition for women combined with some savvy marketing nous has helped Happy Way take out the title of 2018 Telstra South Australian Business of the Year.
After just three years the company, co-founded by Hien Nguyen and Ben Germein, is selling its product to 64 countries via its online sales portal.
Happy Way has harnessed the marketing might of key online “influencers’’ to help drive sales, and Mr Nguyen’s background as a personal trainer has given the company the credibility to make waves in a crowded market.
Mr Nguyen told The Advertiser in an interview last year that product differentiation was the key to the company’s success.
“It’s a saturated market, so we positioned ourself as a lifestyle product,’’ Mr Nguyen said. “Key purchasers are mainly females. It’s used in cooking, smoothies. It can be used for athletic performance, but I wouldn’t put it in that category.’’
Co-founder Ben Germein said at the time that the online community around the product had grown quickly.
The company now has more than 130,000 followers on Instagram.
Telstra Business Awards Ambassador, Vicki Brady, said the award winners demonstrate excellence across six key judging criteria, underpinned by a commitment to innovation and technology.
“The winners of the 2018 Telstra South Australian Business Awards are shining examples of businesses doing great things in new and effective ways for their customers,’’ she said.
“They are genuine innovators, always on the lookout for ways to leverage technology to connect with customers, unlock new markets and take their business to the next level.
“Happy Way is led by two impressive people who are energised by their quest to improve the lives of their customers. They are sophisticated in their marketing, including social media, financially astute and have a hunger for continual learning and growing their business.’’
