The palatial Springfield home of commercial property heir Ross Makris has found a mystery buyer, after the “world-class” mansion was listed for a fifth time.
Mortgage documents indicate Mr Makris bought the home at 9 Hillside Rd, Springfield, for $4.2 million in February 2008, and it has previously been listed for sale in 2011, 2012, 2015, 2018 and 2020.
The property, which has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, and an 18-car undercroft garage, is now listed as “under offer”.
The Springfield property was the subject of a 2017 lawsuit launched by companies controlled by Ross’s father Con Makris, which warned it could be sold if payments on $4 million in loans secured to the property were not made.
Title documents indicate mortgages to the companies involved, Balgra and Balgra Shopping Centre Management, still exist.
Selling agent Stephanie Williams has been contacted for further details.
The house is set on 2209sq m nestled into the Adelaide Hills face, and is touted as “undoubtedly one of South Australia’s finest luxury lifestyle estates”.
“A stylish statement of international prestige that is unrivalled for cachet and convenience. A highly exclusive opportunity to own a modern day masterpiece that surpasses mere luxury, offering every amenity the elite luxury buyer could desire,” says the sales blurb on realestate.com.au.
“This stunning modern mansion exhibits extensive grandeur and opulence like no other comprising five king-bedrooms, four luxe bathrooms, both informal and formal living spaces, lavish interiors, Gaggenau kitchen & chef’s pantry, sparkling indoor swimming pool & spa, north/south all-weather floodlit tennis court, secure car accommodation for up to 18 cars and sited on approx 2209sqm with dual entrances.”

The building size itself is 1028sq m, well over the size of an average Adelaide block.
The property was listed without a sale price but the last time a price was quoted, in 2015, it was going for $4.8 million-$5.1 million.
The house has a mortgage over it owed to the Commonwealth Bank, as well as the two Balgra mortgages.
Ross Makris and his father Con are well-known in Adelaide as commercial property owners, with Con Makris owning the former Le Cornu site on O’Connell St for many years before selling it to the Adelaide City Council for $34 million.
He also recently put the City Cross shopping centre in the Adelaide CBD and the North Adelaide Village shopping complex on O’Connell Street on the market, with an estimated $200 million price tag.
Con Makris in 2016 said he was moving his property empire’s headquarters to the Gold Coast because of Adelaide’s “small town mentality’’.
Ross Makris married former Miss World Australia Olivia Stratton in New York in 2014 but the couple have since divorced.
He did not respond to calls.
