A stunning private island located in Queensland’s Whitsundays is on the market for just under $1 million.

Poole Island boasts two homes, one of which was built in the late 1800s, and the other in the 1980s.

Incredibly, the entire island is listed for less than the average house price in Australia’s major cities.

However, a recent contract to purchase the 20-hectare island fell through when the prospective buyer couldn‘t be contacted. Richard Vanhoff, the owner of Private Islands Online Australia, confirmed that neither he nor the purchaser’s solicitor could reach the buyer.

“I can confirm that we have not been able to contact the purchaser,” Vanhoff told 7NEWS.

“We have tried ourselves, and we are also going on advice from the purchaser’s solicitor, who has also not been able to contact him.”

A stunning private island located in Queensland‘s Whitsundays is on the market for just under $1 million.

The island is now accepting offers over $995,000 and comes complete with a handmade rock swimming pool and a 215m runway that caters to small aircraft and helicopters arriving from nearby mainland hubs such as Airlie Beach or Bowen.

In other news, Paradise Bay Island, another private island in the Whitsundays, has been sold for $1.5 million.

The island was sold by Private Islands Online Australia and was equipped with ten luxury beachfront bungalows.
