Just days after etching his name into the history books as Port Adelaide’s all-time games record holder, Travis Boak has made an investment into life after footy, backing an emerging start-up that’s developing a healthier take on pre-mixed alcoholic drinks.

Boak has invested an undisclosed amount into Gravity Drinks Co., and has become an official ambassador alongside a group of athletes including Ironman champion Matt Poole, pro surfer Cooper Chapman and wakeboard world champion Harley Clifford.

Gravity has developed a range of low-sugar, low-calorie and gluten-free drinks, including alcoholic seltzers and its flagship Hard Soda Lemoncello, which it launched last year.

Boak’s previous forays into the business world have included his launch of underwear brand Rogers in 2018, while he also holds an ownership interest in The Moseley Hotel at Glenelg.

He said his latest venture was a good fit with his interests in health and hospitality.

“I’m always looking for brands that align with my values around health, performance and balance,” he said.

“Gravity is leading the charge in the ‘better for you’ drinks space, and as someone who’s passionate about both fitness and hospitality, it’s a perfect fit. It’s great to join my mate Pooley and some great Aussie athletes on a mission to refresh Australia.”

Gravity was established by co-founders Mick Spencer and Liam Battye on the NSW South Coast in 2022, and its range of drinks – available both in cans and on tap – is now found at bottle shops, nightclubs, bars and other hospitality venues across the country.

Mr Spencer said the company was looking to expand the brand’s reach further into South Australia and Victoria following a $1m capital raise at the beginning of last year.

“Having someone of Travis’ calibre join the Gravity team is huge for us,” he said.

“He’s one of the fittest and most respected players in the AFL, a Nike and Red Bull athlete, and a leader on and off the field. His investment signals the confidence top-tier athletes have in what we’re building.”

Boak played his 394th game for Port Adelaide in their 12 point loss to Essendon on Thursday night, after breaking the previous record of 392 games held by club great Russell Ebert.
