The Police Association of South Australia has launched a new home care business to provide disability and aged care services to its members, their families and the wider South Australian community.
Adelaide-based Lifestyle Plus Group has been chosen to partner with the association in the new business – known as Police HomeCare Services – which becomes the third organisation to operate under the police banner alongside Police Credit Union and Police Health.
Police HomeCare Services will provide care services including domestic support, personal care, community access, behavioural support and allied health services. It’s a registered provider under both the NDIS and My Aged Care.
Lifestyle Plus Group managing director Wayne Boden said the new service provider had been established to “disrupt some unacceptable norms that currently exist in the care services sector”, and deliver a new standard of transparency, dignity and integrity.
“Demand for home care services in the disability and aged care sectors will continue to grow,” he said.
“This will require high standards to be maintained across the care industry and new people to be attracted to work in the sector.
“We aim to build on the trust that’s inherent in the police name to deliver high quality care services within the community.”
Police HomeCare Services has established its head office at the Police Association of South Australia’s building on Carrington St in the CBD.
It says the immediate priority will be to provide services to Police Association of South Australia members and their families before expanding its services to the broader community.
It will also provide pathways into future employment for police officers leaving the police service who want to continue working in serving the community.
Police Association of SA president Mark Carroll said Lifestyle Plus Group had a proven 10-year track record of delivering personalised, high-quality community disability and aged care services in South Australia, and the partnership would expand the association’s reach in the community.
“It’ll be an invaluable practical service to our members and an investment in the future of the association,” he said.
