Petrol price drop has experts urging Sydneysiders to fill up their cars
Lucky Aussies are experiencing a petrol miracle as prices drop amid the school holidays, but there are warnings it won’t last forever.

The cost of petrol has dipped to its lowest level in months with economists urging people to fill up now before prices are hiked.
The national average of unleaded petrol is currently $1.75 per litre, with the cost of U91 setting Sydneysiders back $1.77 per litre according to Fuel Check.
E10 will set Sydney motorists back by $1.72 per litre, premium 95 is sitting at an average of $1.90 per litre, while diesel comes in at $1.85 per litre.
There are also plenty of petrol stations where prices for U91 dip below $1.65 per litre, especially in the inner west and western suburbs.
TEMCO Petroleum in Greenacre is selling U91 for $156.9 as of Wednesday night while Metro Petroleum in Leichhardt has its U91 price listed as $1.55 per litre.
It‘s a far cry from high petrol prices experienced in the first half of the year, with prices sitting at an average of $2.04 per litre in Sydney just one month ago.
CommSec senior economist Ryan Felsman even flagged that prices could fall further as the week continues, a comment backed up by NRMA fuel experts who predict the average will fall to the mid 160 cents.
“I‘d encourage people to fill up their tanks over the next few days,” he told 9 News.
“We don‘t know when the next price hike is coming, it’s most likely to take place either next week or the week after.”
Bargain hunters hoping to find the cheapest petrol in the city are urged to use an app such as FuelCheck or PetrolSpy.
Other tips include filling up in suburbs such as Strathfield and Liverpool where there are more petrol stations, thus more incentive to attract customers with a bargain.
