A full list of close to 30 retailers secured for the long-anticipated development of a $50m discount outlet centre at Parafield Airport has been revealed, including a mix of local and international fashion, sports and homewares brands.
Brands including Puma, Timberland, Sketchers and Kathmandu will all open at the District Outlet Centre when construction is completed next year, following delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The centre is described as Adelaide’s only undercover discount outlet centre, providing a similar offering to Harbour Town at West Beach.
It will feature more than 45 fashion, sports and homewares brands, a food court and close to 600 on-site car parks across a 15,000sq m site.
Retail tenants have been secured for more than 70 per cent of the centre’s shops.
Devwest development director Brett Lovett expects the remaining tenancies to be snapped up by other well-known retail brands.
“We are delivering a top-notch shopping destination not only for the ever-expanding northern suburbs but all of Adelaide and beyond,” he said.
“Thirty of the 45-plus tenancies have already been leased and we expect the last few to be snapped up before too long.
“We’ve partnered with some of the best builders and architects on this project and we can’t wait to see it open in the first half of 2023.”
Local building company Ahrens recently commenced construction of the centre, which has been designed by Intro Architects.
Other brands set to open in the centre include Rip Curl, Hype DC, New Balance, Fila, Rivers, Catalog and Novo.
Realmark Commercial retail sales and leasing director Michael Richardson said interest from retailers to join the project remained strong despite the current economic uncertainty.
“We were able to secure more than 70 per cent of the tenants for DOC prior to construction commencing which is testament to Adelaide being a thriving and attractive location for more bricks and mortar tenancies to invest in,” he said.
The centre was originally due to open in 2018 but was stalled because of economic conditions.
