The nation’s Indigenous excellence will be recognised as part of News Corp Australia’s second annual Indigenous Sport Month.
The company’s sports newsrooms across the country will include increased coverage that acknowledges Indigenous sporting success, and will coincide with the annual Indigenous rounds in the AFL and NRL.
Indigenous athletes Ash Barty and Greg Inglis will act as ambassadors of the campaign, in a bid to encourage more Indigenous children to play sport.
News Corp Australia national deputy sports editor and lead editor of Indigenous Sport Month, Tim Morrissey, says the campaign will feature across Fox Sports, sports streaming service Kayo, news.com.au, The Australian and the state-based mastheads. It will include columns and features by Indigenous athletes.
“This year there will be a strong focus on the importance of pathways and role models for aspiring young Indigenous athletes,” Mr Morrissey said.
Content will be integrated across News Corp weekend lift-outs including Body+Soul, Stellar, At Home, Escape and Saturday magazines including QWeekend, SAWeekend, VWeekend and Sydney Weekend.
