At 0630 AEST on Thursday, the local unit was trading at 93.30 US cents, down from 93.74 cents on Wednesday.
The US economy grew at a rapid pace of four per cent in the 12 months to June, much better than the fall of 2.1 per cent in the 12 months to March.
