Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Thursday, July 10. The ASX 200 index closed 0.6 per cent higher at 8589.2 points, with most major industries up, led by miners, industrials, property and banking stocks.
On Wall Street, tech-heavy index Nasdaq closed nearly 1 per cent stronger at a new record after AI company Nvidia hit $US4 trillion in intraday trade. The S&P 500 index climbed 0.6 per cent and the Dow Jones index gained 0.5 per cent.
Cryptocurrency giant bitcoin has lifted above $US111,200 - after hitting a new high of $US111,739.31 in US trading.
The Aussie dollar is trading around US65.50c.
