The Shahin family-owned fuel empire will expand further into Victoria with three new On The Run stores to open this year, part of a $40 million-plus spend that will also create 400 new jobs in SA.

The investment is for construction of new stores and rebuilding 11 existing OTR stores.

Currently, OTR operates 146 petrol and convenience stores in SA and one in Victoria, which opened in 2015.

The new Victorian regional OTRs will be in Mildura, Horsham and Portland.

Parent company Peregrine Corporation is among the state’s largest private employers with more than 4000 staff, 3200 of which are OTR employees.

OTR chief executive Warren Wilmot said positions were available across OTR’s stores as well as in the corporate office.

“This year, we will hire people in our metropolitan and regional OTR sites, across our convenience OTR stores and food brands including Guzman Y Gomez, Subway and Oporto,” he said.

“Due to continuous growth, our corporate office is (also) seeking talent for newly created roles.”

“We genuinely believe in creating job and training opportunities for thousands of Australians and are proud of the careers we have helped shape across the last 30 years,” Mr Wilmot said.

OTR invested $45 million in 2018 in constructing and rebuilding 10 stores.

The Shahin family were South Australia’s wealthiest representatives on the inaugural edition of The List — Australia’s Richest 250, published in the Weekend Australian last month.
