Property developers Jamie and Louisa McClurg have donated a whopping $100,000 to the Jodi Lee Foundation (JLF) as the charity marks its 10-year anniversary.

In an ongoing show of support for “people and projects that are close to our hearts”, the couple’s generous donation will help cover the costs of a gala dinner next weekend, and coincides with this weekend’s JLF Trek in the Barossa Valley.

Ms McClurg is tackling the arduous 74km trek along the Heysen Trail, from Marrabel to Pewsey Vale, with friend and long-time JLF supporter Anna Roussos.

The donation would cover the costs of next week’s anniversary dinner, ensuring all fundraising proceeds from the event would go straight to the fight against bowel cancer, Ms McClurg said.

“Jamie and I are passionate about building a healthy future for South Australia by lending our support to people and projects that are close to our hearts,” she said.

“We are delighted to be able to support the foundation which continually impresses us with its phenomenal work and the life-saving impact of that work.

“We’re thrilled to be able to help ensure the night will be a huge success.”

Ms McClurg, a former partner at Minter Ellison, now works alongside husband Jamie at Commercial & General - the development company he established more than 20 years ago.

It is currently overseeing billions of dollars’ worth of development in the CBD and suburban Adelaide, including the $446m SAHMRI 2 building on North Terrace and the $1 billion WEST housing development at the former Football Park site.

The Jodi Lee Foundation was established by Nick Lee in 2010 following the death of his wife Jodi from bowel cancer, aged just 41.

In the decade since it has raised more than $11m and overseen major campaigns which have saved lives.

Mr Lee said he was “incredibly grateful to Jamie and Louisa for their generosity”.

“This donation will make such a big difference on what was already going to be a very special night as we celebrate the journey and achievements of the foundation and honour the life of Jodi,” he said.

“It means every dollar we raise on the night is pure profit that we can commit to the cause – so it’s extra incentive for everyone to dig deep.”

Around 650 guests will attend the sold-out black-tie event at the Entertainment Centre on May 22.

It is understood the generous donation by the McClurgs won’t be their last major financial contribution to worthy causes driven from South Australia.
