Fast food giant McDonald’s has secured its third site in the Brisbane CBD

The refurbished Post Office Square retail hub in the Brisbane CBD has secured the worlds largest fast food group to be its anchor tenant.

McDonald's will be the anchor tenant in the refurbished Post Office Square in the Brisbane CBD.

The Brisbane CBD will welcome its third McDonald’s with the Golden Arches to feature at the entrance of the new look Post Office Square.

McDonald’s has been confirmed as the anchor tenant for the food/retail hub having secured a 10-year lease on a 191 sqm site facing Queen St.

The leasing deal has left Post Office Square with 24 per cent vacancy after a multimillion dollar revitalisation by global investment manager LaSalle Investment Management, which acquired the property in 2017.

McDonald’s operations manager Queensland Steve Jamieson said they have started the restaurant’s $3m fit-out which when opened will provide 100 operational jobs.

“McDonald’s Post Office Square is committed to playing an active role in the local community,” he said.

“We look forward to serving up our great tasting, great quality menu once the restaurant opens later this year.”

The other McDonald’s in the CBD were currently at Central Station and the Queen Street Mall.

LaSalle managing director of development Australia Simon Juniper said the lease paves the way for seven-day trading at Post Office Square.

“Post Office Square is the commercial centre of the CBD and a major thoroughfare between Central Station and Queen and Adelaide streets,” he said.

“It has extremely high foot traffic and is centrally located to more than 100,000 CBD workers.

“We’re investing heavily to completely reposition this asset by making it a physically more attractive and accessible space with wider walkways, more greenery and a select mix of tenants.”

Vente Property’s Taylor Macri said the revitalisation of Post Office Square played a pivotal role in broking the deal with McDonald’s.

“Our research and data indicates … what workers want is more relevant cuisines and great spaces for their breakfast and lunch breaks,” Mr Macri said.

“Post Office Square is specifically responding to these market changes curating a vibrant and authentic new mix all set in a stunning new dining precinct with more seats, space, amenities and ambience that appeal to the modern office worker.”
