But with the all festivities ahead, what shops will be open, and when, across the New Year’s period?
We have compiled a list of store closures and opening and closing times for big-name outlets across the country.
SUPERMARKETS
Coles
Coles outlets will largely remain open over the new year, with only a handful of stores closing or changing opening hours.
It’s recommended you check opening times for your local store online.

QLD: All stores are open except Coles outlets at Goondiwindi, Mt Isa and Ayr

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day
Aldi stores on the whole will operate as normal, with customers urged to check online for their local store opening hours.
Some Aldi outlets will be shut on New Year’s Day.
All IGA stores are independently owned and all opening hours will vary between outlets. It’s recommended customers plan ahead and check the opening hours for their local store, with some outlets trading as usual and others changing opening hours.
