A common item sold at Bunnings Warehouse stores across the country has been recalled over fears it could seriously injure or kill young children.

A common item sold at Bunnings stores all over the country has been pulled from the shelves over fears the item could injure or kill young children.

Product Safety Australia (PSA) issued the urgent recall for the Inkbird Digital Food Thermometer, which are sold at Bunnings Warehouse chains all over Australia, both in store and online.

The thermometer bears the model number BG-HH2C.

According to the warning, the product does not comply with the mandatory standards for items with button or coin batteries.

“The battery packaging has not been tested as required by the mandatory safety standard and may not be child resistant,” the PSA warning states.

“There is a risk of choking, severe internal burn injuries or death to young children if they gain access to the button batteries and swallow or place them inside their body.”

Severe or fatal injuries can happen in two hours or less.

Customers are urged to stop using the product and keep it out of reach from children. It can be returned to Bunnings for a full refund.

The thermometers were sold to customers between November 2022 and July 4, 2024.
