Nutrition showdown: which fast food is the healthiest?

Domino’s Pizza is trialling a new payment method in five of its stores across two states in an effort to speed up orders.

The fast food chain is now trialling a Tap & Take Only payment model from today.

Domino’s Australia and New Zealand CEO Nick Knight said the company’s trial stores would accept all forms of payment, except cash, to increase customer convenience.

“The Domino’s ethos has always been about increasing convenience for our customers — even being the first pizza company in Australia to offer home delivery all those years ago,” he said.

“Our Tap & Take stores will enable our customers to get piping hot meals faster than ever, reducing in-store queues and delivery wait times.

“Just as the name suggests, customers simply need to tap their card, phone, smart watch or finger on the keyboard and take their piping hot meal as soon as it’s ready.”

Mr Knight also said it would increase team member safety with no cash kept on the premises.

“We’re now heading towards a very real future where the legal tender could be solely electronic, so it’s important that we remain digitally agile and continue to meet consumer demands,” he said.

When asked what would happen if the electronic payment system were to break down, a Domino’s Pizza spokeswoman told News Corp Australia customers can get their order for free.

“We always put our customers first and an important part of the trial will be to determine the stability of electronic payment systems (as the only form of payment),” she said.

“If there is an outage in the trial stores and we can’t take a payment electronically, then our customers can enjoy their pizza on us! It’s all part of the learning experience.”

The Tap & Take trial will commence in three locations in NSW, Domino’s Newtown, Coffs Harbour and Wauchope.

It will also begin in Queensland’s Calamvale and in Surfers Paradise South.
