Global communications intelligence company Cision’s acquisition of media monitoring company Streem will give its customers far greater insights into data and analytics, according to Streem boss Elgar Welch.
Cision completed the acquisition last week and the deal will now allow Streem, a platform that provides media monitoring and insights in Australia and New Zealand, to provide more comprehensive insights and social media solutions.
It is also the first time Cision has entered the trans-Tasman market.
Mr Welch, Streem’s chief executive, said the deal with the global media giant would ensure Streem’s recent strong growth would continue.
“As customers look beyond our borders, having that reach is important for us,” he said.
“It will provide more content globally … you look at the sorts of brands Cision owns such as Brandwatch – rich social media content and social media content – that has become a large part of the media intelligence sector as well.”
Streem provides customers with real-time monitoring data, including from print, online, television, radio and social media channels; some of its largest clients include Telstra, Qantas, the Commonwealth Bank and the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.
The company also provides services including public relations, investor relations, marketing and social media management tools.
The acquisition of Streem by Cision was first flagged in December, and has now resulted in a 100 per cent sale of Streem shares to Cision, following approval by Australia’s Foreign Investment Review Board and the US Department of Justice.
The Streem branding will continue to operate independently and key management roles will also remain in place, including Welch as chief executive and Antoine Sabourin as chief technology officer.
