‘Cashed up bogans’: Beach photo sparks heated debate

A photo of a beautiful beach has gone viral online and there’s a detail in the photo that is getting some Aussies fired up.

‘What the f***?’: 'Mr and Mrs Karen' go off

When you think of Australia’s beautiful beaches, you probably think of sand and water, but now you’ll need to add cars, lots and lots of cars to that picture.

A video of Aldinga Beach, located in South Australia, is going viral because of the amount of cars parked on its scenic shores on Australia Day. The beach looked more like a sandy carpark than well a beach.

Have your say in The Great Aussie Debate. Take the survey here:

Popular travel influencer and Seven star Cosi posted a video of the beach to his 70,000 followers and admitted he’d never “seen the beach so busy” before.

Cosi was quite positive about the clip and said while it was “crazy” to see the number of people, “everyone was having a ball,” and that people having fun at the beach was what Australia is all about.

Very quickly though debate erupted.

While Cosi might have loved seeing Aussies down at the beach and out in the sun, some people couldn’t get over the number of cars.

“Why do you need to park your car on the beach?” Someone asked and that question alone got over 200 likes.

Very quickly, it became clear Aussies couldn’t agree on whether cars should be allowed on the beach.

Someone claimed parking your car on the beach was “laziness”, but another said if you ever get your chance to park your car on the beach, you’ll quickly understand why other people do it.

Beach clips divides Aussies immediately

One Aussie replied and said they park their car on the beach is, “because we can,” and then explained they were a local, and were very happy to have a beach they could treat like a road.

Meanwhile, someone else responded to that person’s comment and said that “because you can” is a “stupid” reason to do something.

One person chimed in and said being able to drive your car down to the beach and set-up for the day allowed for “experiences” with family and friends.

Others weren’t so convinced.

Someone argued that it’d be a nightmare to have to ferry children through all the cars, and someone asked, “In what way is that actually enjoyable?”

One beachgoer who was actually there on the day said that despite how busy it looked online it was “very beautiful” and the water was dreamy.

Meanwhile another Aussie responded to the video and asked, “Why would you even bother?” Before claiming that it looked like “hell on the beach”.

Someone else who had visited the beach that day said that it was “pretty busy” but everyone was looking out for each other and having a great time and it was clear everyone had respect for the beach.

That man’s beach claim though certainly wasn’t enough to silence people who didn’t agree with cars on the beach because someone commented “gross”.

“May as well take a wading pool to the TTP carpark. Less cashed up bogans in monster trucks there too,” the person joked.

Another Aussie agreed and called the video “yuck” and said it was “sad” to see a beach turned into a massive carpark.
