A group of entrepreneurial Adelaide women, who set out to make a difference to the lives of breastfeeding mothers and their children, has taken out the top prize at the 2023 South Australian Premier’s Business and Export Awards.
The awards, hosted by Business SA in collaboration with the state government, were presented on Friday night, with Mumamoo being named the South Australian Business of the Year.
Electronics manufacturer Redarc was named the Exporter of the Year, while Oliver’s Taranga Vineyards was the Family Business of the Year, and Rainy Day Recruitment the Indigenous Business of the year.
Mumamoo is owned by Belinda Humphris, Kristina Scutella, Charlotte Chambers and Miriam Weir, and has a vision to develop a South Australian-owned, scientifically formulated, nutritionally balanced, premium milk formula.
The company and its founders are also closely involved in the discussion around breastfeeding and infant health, and spent almost two years developing their products in collaboration with pediatric nutritionists before they were launched.
The brand is now carried in more than 1000 stores across Australia, including major retailers such as Drakes, Foodland and Chemist Warehouse.
Business SA chief executive Andrew Kay said this year’s awards attracted an outstanding array of entrants.
“With over 250 businesses participating and a total of 600 nominations submitted across 24 categories, the competition was fierce,’’ Mr Kay said.
“It is evident that South Australia boasts a growing number of innovative and high-achieving businesses, of which we should all be immensely proud.’’
Premier Peter Malinauskas applauded Business SA for a putting on “a fantastic awards program to honour the hard work and ingenuity that each of these businesses has displayed’’.
“The quality of nominations reflects the outstanding companies we have in South Australia.
“I would like to congratulate all the nominees, finalists and winners, in particular Redarc Electronics for winning the South Australian Exporter of the Year Award and Mumamoo Group for winning the Business of the Year Award.’’
Lonsdale-based Redarc, headed up by Anthony Kittel, employs more than 350 people worldwide and is a leader in the design and manufacture of high-end aftermarket automotive accessories, particularly in the off-road and recreational markets.
In all, 23 awards were handed out at a gala event at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Friday night, attended by more than 600 people. Mumamoo also picked up the Small Business of the Year award.
