The sign above Hollywood’s iconic Roosevelt Hotel was lit in green and gold as celebrities gathered to raise money for Australian wildlife.
More than 300 guests attended the LA loves OZ fundraiser, organised by expat Aussies Amanda Archer and Pippa Pomeranz.
“It’s all about love tonight and celebrating how much we all love Australia,” publicist Archer said, while Pomeranz said the loss of wildlife she saw on a recent visit home had been heartbreaking.
“Steve Irwin said ‘you save one animal, you save a species’. Well, tonight we want to save a species,” she said.
Taylor Dayne was one of several US performers appearing at the benefit, with Sex And The City star Chris Noth also attending.
“I love Australia so much and it’s been so hard to see the devastation there,” Dayne said.
“This work is important to me because the issues are not just in Australia, they are in the Amazon and all over the world.”
Funds raised at LA Loves Australia went to Wildlife Warriors and Australia Zoo.
