Footage has been released of a man being threatened with a hammer during an alleged daylight robbery in Queensland.
A police spokesperson said the alleged offender, who has since been charged, threatened a man with a hammer while he was stopped at a red light on Nambour Connection Rd at Woombye on the Sunshine Coast on Monday at 2.20pm.
“A man in his 60s was in the vehicle when approached by another man armed with a hammer,” the spokesperson said.
“He threatened him before taking an amount of cash and leaving the scene.”
The video shows the Sippy Downs man, 30, confronting a motorist, demanding money and tightly gripping a hammer.
The driver can be seen handing over a lump sum of cash to the man, who later fled the scene.
Police allege the men were not known to each other.
The driver was not physically hurt during the incident.
Just three days after the incident, police found the man at a Gympie home, where he was arrested.
The man has been charged with going armed to cause fear, armed robbery and serious assault of a person over 60.
He is set to appear in Gympie Magistrates Court on Friday August 11, 2022.
