Erin Molan has ‘married’ herself in a ceremony with other single women

Erin Molan opened up about why she donned a white dress for a surprise ‘wedding ceremony’ and revealed the heartbreaking reason she almost pulled out.

Erin Molan has been walked down the aisle by her four-year-old daughter in a surprise ‘wedding ceremony’ attended by the new Premier of NSW Chris Minns – and several other single brides.

The wedding was an event for her 2DAY FM breakfast program, Hughesy, Ed and Erin where a number of single women ‘married’ themselves..

“I’m going to be completely honest… I didn’t want to do this… at all,” she said in an Instagram post on Tuesday.

“We came up with this concept late last year because so many of our listeners were single mums/unmarried/unlucky in love/unhappy in their relationships and we just thought WHY wait until you’ve met the one… just marry yourself.”

She said she almost pulled out after losing her father Jim earlier this year.

“One of the million things that broke my heart about that was the realisation that he’d never be able to walk me down the aisle,” she said.

“I’ve never dreamt of a wedding and it’s never been really that important to me… but the thought of even doing it for a radio segment, without him, made me feel sick… and I nearly pulled out so many times.”

Erin’s father Senator Jim Molan died earlier this year.

But it was her daughter Eliza’s excitement that got her up the aisle.

“It was actually my 4 year old who got me over the line. I told her about it and she was more excited than I’ve ever seen her… and that helped me immensely,” she said.

A surprise guest was Chris Minns, the new Premier of NSW who was sworn in on Tuesday morning.
