Wearing a ballet-inspired dress, Emma Watkins married Oliver Brian at a private country estate.

The pair tied the knot on Sunday at Longmeadow Estate in the Victorian town of Tyrendarra.

Speaking exclusively to Vogue Australia, the bride revealed she wore a champagne-coloured tulle-and-sequined dress by South Australian couture brand Paolo Sebastian, with Paspaley pearls, and a pair of Roger Vivier ballet-esque velvet flats.

“We told guests not to wear heels if you can avoid it, it was outside in the country and we didn’t want them to get stuck in the grass,” the former Yellow Wiggle, 32, told Vogue.

“In my head, I was like, ‘I am definitely going to wear flats!’”
Speaking about her wedding gown to Vogue, Watkins said: “I love everything about the soft tulle that they use in a way that has a ballerina-esque background to it”.

“I’d been looking for something that wasn’t too fluffy, that had a bit of ballet in it. I always wear button-up collared shirts and when I saw his dress I thought, ‘oh, it has a collar! I was like that’s so me. I’d never seen a dress like that.’

“The dress is so much more simple than I thought I was going to choose.”

The laid-back bride even did her own hair and makeup on the big day – a ritual she continued from her years performing.

“I wanted to be on my own and to have that time by myself to get ready. It felt more casual for it to be just me,” Watkins said, adding she made her own floral headpiece on the morning of the wedding.

The couple, who have been dating for more than three years, met when they were both part of Australian children’s entertainment powerhouse, The Wiggles, with Brian – a composer, sound engineer and producer – previously part of the act’s touring band. The pair announced their engagement in April last year.

In an interview with Vogue, Brian, 34, opened up about the emotional moment when he saw his now-wife walking down the aisle.

“I was basically a mess, I was in shock when Emma got out of the car,” Brian said.

Addressing his new wife, Brian said: “I was fixated on you the whole way down (the aisle) – when your dad handed you over, it was a very beautiful moment”.

“I was definitely overwhelmed and there were tears.” The couple – who live in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales – are planning a honeymoon at a later date.

Last year, Watkins announced her departure from The Wiggles, revealing her new children’s character, Emma Memma.
